Home
shopping tips when Buying your home:
- Shop
for a loan before you make an offer.
If you are "pre-qualified" your loan officer has
determined what price you can afford based on down payment,
debt, credit, etc. Being pre-qualified is only a determination
of your probable credit. If you are "pre-approved",
your credit, employment and funds have been approved by
the lender.
- Enjoy
the benefits of home ownership!
Sit down with your executive and list everything you want
in your next home. Together your Realty Executive professional
can guide you through the entire process. Remember to take
notes as you view each home to discuss with your executive
later.
- Exterior.
Notice the condition of roof, brick or siding, gutters,
walks and driveway, overgrown landscaping.
- Interior:
Condition of walls or ceiling, loose plaster, flooring (wood,
carpet or tile), water stains near windows or below bathrooms,
poor insulation or ventilation. Check cabinets, drawers
and sinks. Note if fans are in working order. What's included
with the home?
- Note
the cleanliness:
Clean homes are a sign of a well-cared-for home. Use your
nose. Some odors may come from pets or stale litter boxes.
Major odors that seem to go throughout the house may indicate
more serious problems (wet basements, chronic leaks, mold).
- Notice
things that need repairs. Can you fix it or will
it make a difference in whether or not you would make an
offer on the home? Can you expect that the seller
will make the repairs?
- Have
fun!
Relax. Finding your new home can be a rewarding experience.
Have a good time and enjoy the process. You have help!
